Seattle Outdoor Movie Locations
If there's one thing Seattle absolutely nails in the summer, it's finding excuses to be outside. Rooftops? Yep. Patios? Everywhere. Parks? Packed.
And then there are outdoor movie nights.
There's just something about watching a movie under the stars with a blanket, a picnic, and a bag of popcorn that makes you forget we complained about the rain for the previous eight months.
Whether you're planning a date night, a family outing, or just looking for an excuse to spend another evening outside, here are a few of the best outdoor movie experiences happening around the Seattle area this summer.
Movies at the Mural (Seattle Center)
This one might be the most iconic.
Picture this: you're stretched out on the lawn at Seattle Center, the Space Needle towering overhead, and a giant movie screen lighting up the night. Honestly, it doesn't get much more "Seattle summer" than that.
The best part? It's completely free.
This year's lineup includes family favorites and classics like Wonka, The Princess Bride, Hamilton, Coco, and Masters of the Universe, with movies showing on Friday evenings beginning in late July.
Pro tip: Get there early, grab dinner from one of the nearby food vendors, and claim your spot before the crowd rolls in.
Movies at Marymoor Park (Redmond)
If you've never been to Movies at Marymoor, add it to your summer list.
It's basically the outdoor movie experience turned up a notch. Food trucks? Check. Live music before the movie? Yep. Dogs welcome? Absolutely.
This year's lineup includes everything from Ferris Bueller's Day Off and Mamma Mia! to Jurassic Park, Top Gun: Maverick, and The Princess Bride.
Bring a blanket, some friends, and maybe a sweatshirt... because this is still Seattle, after all.
Center City Cinema (Parks All Across Seattle)
One of my favorite things about Seattle is that you don't always have to head downtown to find something fun.
Seattle Parks' Center City Cinema brings free movie nights to parks all over the city throughout July and August. Think Cal Anderson Park, Ballard Commons, Lake Union Park, Hing Hay Park, Freeway Park, and several more.
The lineup has a little bit of everything from family movies like Matilda and Despicable Me to cult classics like The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Blade Runner, and Top Gun: Maverick.
Odds are there's a movie night happening somewhere close to your neighborhood.
Seattle summers are way too short to spend every evening inside.
Whether you're watching a movie beneath the Space Needle, relaxing in Marymoor Park, or finding a neighborhood screening close to home, these are the kinds of nights that make Seattle summers so memorable.
And who knows, you might even discover your next favorite neighborhood along the way!
